JetBlue began operations in 2000 from its base at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and today serves 53 destinations across the U.S. and Caribbean. At the end of 2007, JetBlue operated a fleet of 104 Airbus A320 aircraft and 30 EMBRAER 190 aircraft.

Under his leadership, JetBlue returned to profitability for the 2007 fiscal year, welcomed its 100th Airbus 320 aircraft to the fleet, and introduced “BetaBlue,” the first aircraft of its kind in the United States to feature onboard texting and e-mail. JetBlue was also recognized with the Airbus Operational Excellent Award for operating the World’s Most Reliable A320 Fleet.

David studied at the University of Michigan where he majored in Economics and Political Science, and in 2007 endowed the Barger Leadership Institute in the Organizational Studies Programs. He is a First Vice President of the Wing’s Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing aviation through discussion, education and community support activities and will become President of the Club in March of 2009.
